The Tandem Cylinder is a specialized multi-piston pneumatic actuator designed to deliver extra-high force output by combining two or more pistons in a single, compact assembly. Unlike standard cylinders, the tandem cylinder achieves double (or more) thrust using the same bore diameter, making it ideal for applications where space is limited but high force is essential.
In a tandem configuration, each piston is powered simultaneously by compressed air, and their force is combined to produce a multiplied output on a common rod. This construction is especially valuable in applications like heavy clamping, press operations, material ejection, punching, and automated heavy-duty handling.
Constructed with anodized aluminum or stainless-steel tubes, hardened piston rods, and durable seals, tandem cylinders offer a compact footprint, enhanced force output, and precise motion control. They are available in ISO 15552 or custom profiles, with optional magnetic pistons, adjustable cushioning, and a variety of mounting accessories.
