The 2-Wire Reed Switch is a compact, contact-based magnetic proximity sensor specifically designed to detect the position of a magnetic piston within pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders. When the magnetic field of the piston passes near the reed switch mounted along the cylinder body, the internal reed contacts close, generating a signal that can be used for end-position detection, stroke confirmation, or sequence control.
Unlike 3-wire sensors, the 2-wire reed switch is simple to integrate, functioning like a standard switch in series with a load, requiring no separate power supply. Its low current consumption, fast response, and high repeatability make it ideal for integration into automated systems, especially in packaging machines, robotics, material handling, and assembly lines.
Designed to operate in harsh industrial environments, the 2-wire reed switch is enclosed in a robust housing (typically plastic or metal), features LED indicators, and is resistant to vibration, dust, oil, and moisture. It can be easily installed in T-slot, C-slot, or round-slot cylinders, depending on the mounting type.
